3D Printing 101 (FDM)

Learn to print 3D models using FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling)

Safety and Basic Use of the Series 1 3D Printer. This class is required to be able to book time and use this machine.

3D printing is the fastest way to see your prototype come to life. FDM 3D printing is cheap and relatively easy and offers a 12x12x18 inch build volume.

This class will set you up to be able to print in PLA using the two Series 1 3D printers here at Circuit Launch. In this class we’ll cover:

  • Interfacing with the machine (logging on and control)
  • Loading and changing PLA filament
  • Using pre-generated profiles with all of the basic settings
  • Leveling the bed to reduce print failures
  • Slicing your STL or OBJ file and outputting the gcode for the printer
  • Do’s and Don’ts of model orientation and printing.
  • Safely removing your prints to avoid bed damage

Once you take this class you are immediately checked out to book time on our 3D printers. Bring your own filament or borrow some of ours.
